Nvidia and Apple and Server hardware. What an unlikely combo, I would never have put money on that happening. Heck, neither Apple+Nvidia nor Apple+(publically available)-server-hardware were something I would have guessed.
But I think the future is local inference and I'd love to have Apple as another contender in this space.
If they start again, they wasted 15y of not gaining more experience in that field.
How will they grow the necessary _mature_ software?
It takes decades for a filesystem to mature.
Their system tools are a mixed bag: some things are outstanding, others are clown car level abominations that need interactive input.
Hope not sounds very circular in a AI model maker fashion, at this point in time Apple doesn’t need Nvidia for anything let the current AI gang buying Nvidia hardware and software, bubble burst and just stay back and enjoy the show.
