Ask HN: People unemployed for >2 years, how do you spend your time?

I started hearing a lot of stories about people who just can't find a job so they give up looking for jobs.

Which make me curious, how do they spend their time?

in Germany, the radio says, 1 people company is booming because people are laid off... so I assume... start a company?

In the USA, we do that as well. 1-person small businesses, I made two of them.

I was unemployed for well over a year, and I spent that time ... getting a job.

Don't give up OP, just change it up. Stop sending the same resume over and over: try a new one, in a new format (or maybe even make a web portfolio).

But also, keep applying. It's all about balancing a mix of "continue the endless grind of applications" with "take bigger steps, like filling your portfolio with projects you start in your free time".

And of course also mix in some "go out in nature and otherwise take advantage of the time to improve your head space" ... because you won't get any jobs if your head isn't in a good place.
