when i started surfing, i got a bit lost trying to figure out the forecast and whether it was actually worth going out. there’s a lot of information, the interfaces can get pretty cluttered, and as a beginner it wasn’t always obvious what i should actually be looking at
that’s what made me start building ariasurf. it now covers 50,000+ spots worldwide, with hourly forecasts, primary and secondary swell, wind, tides, weather, live cams where available, favorites, and the option to create custom spots from any coordinates
i’ve tried to keep the forecast quick to read while still showing the actual data underneath
still improving a lot of things, especially accuracy and how each spot behaves. would really appreciate any feedback
surfline is definitely much more mature, especially with cams and spot-specific forecasting. ariasurf is trying to take a slightly different approach, focused on being lightweight and easy to read, with 50k+ spots worldwide, custom coordinates for things like secret spots, hourly swell/wind/tide/weather, cams where available, and multiple languages
i’m still improving a lot of the forecasting side, so i see it more as exploring a different product experience than trying to replace surfline
