Its been a while since I heard about voidzero but I can't help but to feel cynical going on their website. Please someone, make me understand the economic landscape, I'd love to feel more positive emotions.
Voidzero got VC money for building tooling for web dev. Vite already existed and so did Rolldown (right?). The new thing is Vite+ which as far as I can tell is basically a big project template. According to https://www.linkedin.com/posts/beamstart_voidzero-an-emergin... they raised at least 12.5 million dollars for this.
Now I see in their header that they've been aquired by Cloudflare, this is probably old news to most of you but it snuck past me.
How in the world is there this much money in a project template? I know they floated some revenue-generating plans about cloud hosting (vercel-ish stuff?) at the time of their launch but it seemed more like a front than anything series. Very similar to Bun IMO. The plans never seemed all that serious.
Is this just the Evan You tax? I'm sure the VC-investors turned a profit on the aquisistion, perhaps it is incorrect of me to question them. Why would Cloudflare spend this money in that case? Please tell me this is more than a case of name/brand recognition of a single developer...

I've personally been using vite with turbo, pnpm, rolldown and oxlint, as separate tools and it is working very well.
I don't really see the value for me in having these be bundled together, but I can understand why it makes a monorepo setup simpler for a newcomer.
