I hadn't been to howstuffworks.com in years. It's...very different now. Much more ad heavy, sensational, "the fourth one will amaze you", "doctors hate #7", and just icky in a way I don't remember it being ten years ago.
It's an unusual post history. He seemed to post exclusively in a set of small, self-created subreddits. It's quite an eclectic mix of fascinating subjects!
I’ve never had close interaction with How Stuff Works itself, but I did get a lot of entertainment and fun knowledge out of Stuff you should know, a podcast spun out of it.
I don't think that suicide thing is confirmed. The other day they said cardiac arrest. Who knows.
