Has World War III Already Started?

War has radically changed in the past few years and everything, it seems, is based on the "last war" whatever that means, since wars are not declared any more, so that they can be begun and waged extra-constitutionally on a whim.

Or the new reality can be just ignored.

Yet Pete Hegseth, our testosterone-obsessed defense secretary, last week decided to phase out an Army drone unit, seemingly because it was championed by generals he didn’t like.

On this shore, the distruction of civilian and military agencies continues, almost as if on purpose, to pay a debt to Mr. Putin, radically altering balances of power until the self-destruction is stopped.

But with both members of the Trump-Putin cadre falling apart, the future's not written, only rotten at this point until they are reined in in.

Not that the other powers are any better, but they are currently behaving less belligerently.

Lives are just tokens, and that is just plain wrong anytime and anywhere.
