WeTransfer sends me an email to let me know when the recipient has downloaded a file I uploaded. Is this any different?

Hi thanks for your comment. Do you mean Stripe Connect? For users that want to send files to paying clients, they can connect their Stripe Connect account to their Ive Sent It account - that's the only integration if that's what you mean.
Hi there, thanks for your comment - so first we have a more expansive feature set than WeTransfer for users in different sectors. From a security point of view, of course you're completely right WeTransfer sends emails to users to inform them of when someone downloaded their file (and so do we). However, we go a step further - every delivery also carries a signed certificate/receipt with a hash so that the recipient can look up independently on the platform whether that file transfer came from us or not. Users can also restrict deliveries by country, cap the number of downloads, or request id-verified delivery (this is particularly useful for legal) to ensure that a user proves to the sender it's them downloading files that are particularly sensitive.
Thanks for the reply and for clarifying. The website didnt immediately make that obvious, the main selling point above the fold is that you can know when your download lands. If your product differs significantly from others on the market, IMO you should scream about that as soon as you can.

What is the proof the you read these files passing through your server and gather data like Google and meta?? Trust problem..
Hi fehu22, thanks for your comment. So every file when it's sent is malware checked and additionally automatically scanned to ensure it doesn't contain things like CSAM - we obviously don't want our users abusing the service.

I don’t even know what this means. I don’t want you poking through confidential client files. And this smells so vibe coded how am I meant to trust the security of the files?

Is this a joke?! No one wants to have to sit through so performative AI animation to get a file. This is horrendously tacky sounding. And potentially really painful for someone who just wants to download a file.
Hello saaaaaam, thanks for your comment. On the animations, people can take it or leave it. It's not on there by default at all - just an option for people if they want it. No one's forced to send a file using the animations. In terms of "poking through confidential client files" as you put it, we make it clear - every file is scanned for malware and checked automatically for content that is illegal - for example CSAM - which is done in an automated fashion. Obviously, we don't want people abusing our service which is standard practice amongst any service.
