Show HN: Afterlife Vault – a virtual dead man's switch

Hi HN — I built Afterlife Vault, a way to send messages to loved ones (or not so loved ones) to make sure these people get access to what matters (documents, passwords, personal messages, PIN codes, etc.), if something happens to you. No upfront communication needed — just their email, and it's your responsibility to make sure it's correct. I don't ask your recipients for confirmation codes :-)

I am sure there are things you only want people to know after you're gone, next to how much they meant to you, maybe details that could help your survivors, or details like a stray child somewhere else.

You create an account, for free if you want to look around, and create your 'recipients' and chest. You can upload files, which are encrypted at rest, and add your recipients. You can select per recipient who receives what.

You will be reminded to check in periodically, by email and/or SMS; if you go silent longer than a certain number of days, the information is sent automatically to your defined recipients with a secure token link — no account needed on their end or prior knowledge.

You can test of course to see how it looks on the receiving end to make sure it's all well configured before you leave this planet.

Stack: Next.js, Node/Express, Postgres and Redis, self-hosted on my own infrastructure behind CF, Stripe for billing, but free to try, and paid if you want it actually active (monthly/yearly or a one-time lifetime option).

Happy to discuss and hear your suggestions / comments / feedback.
